The plaintiffs, including SJSU's co-captain, claim their Title IX rights are being violated by allowing a transgender athlete to play for a women’s sports team.

A lawsuit filed on Wednesday asks for a San Jose State University volleyball player to be declared ineligible for the Mountain West Conference tournament because of assertions that the player is transgender.

The plaintiffs include SJSU co-captain Brooke Slusser, assistant coach Melissa Batie-Smoose and two former Spartans players.
