The status of cornerback Tommi Hill will be a game-time decision based on the senior’s pain threshold with his foot injury, Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said on Thursday. If he can’t go, USC transfer Ceyair Wright will handle the majority of snaps after relieving Hill last week.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers suffered a frustrating loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday night. It was a game that saw the Cornhuskers lose star defensive back Tommi Hill. After the game, head coach Matt Rhule explained why Tommi Hill was forced to watch the end of the game in street clothes.

Senior Tommi Hill was limited to just 19 snaps in last week’s loss to Illinois. Huskers head coach Matt Rhule later said that Hill suffered a plantar fascia injury. As of Thursday, Rhule said it’s still up in the air as to whether or not Hill will play on Saturday at Purdue.

A new starting left tackle and clarity at kicker will be part of Nebraska’s first Big Ten road game Saturday. Redshirt freshman Gunnar Gottula is set to make his first career start on the edge of the Husker offensive line while John Hohl will handle field goals and extra points,

Hill entered the game with 12 tackles and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown against Colorado. It was Nebraska's first pick-six since 2019. The Huskers also said left tackle Turner Corcoran has been ruled out with an injury as well that he suffered in the first half.
