Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed announced that the board cannot ensure the security that star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has requested to participate in the upcoming Dhaka Test against South Africa.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's hopes of returning home have hit a roadblock with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruque Ahmed making it clear that the board cannot not ensure a personal security cover due to the ongoing case against him.

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan announced his decision to retire from international cricket ahead of the second Test of the tour of India, to be played in Kanpur. Shakib stated that he wanted to play his final Test in front of a home crowd during Bangladesh’s forthcoming series against South Africa,

India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test match will be the last red-ball outing for Shakib Al Hasan as Bangladesh Cricket Board denied giving security to the all-rounder.

Shakib Al Hasan, who became a member of the Awami League-led government in January this year, was among 147 people named in a murder case in Dhaka last month.

Bangladesh are hosting South Africa for a two-match series in October and the 37-year-old is hopeful that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take care of the security concerns
