A planned protest that aimed to disrupt the unveiling of the annual Myer Christmas windows in Melbourne has been cancelled.

Liberal MP Julian Leeser expresses frustration with pro-Palestinian protesters disrupting Myer's annual unveiling of its Christmas window display in Melbourne's Bourke Street mall.

Pro-Palestinian protests were scheduled this weekend to disrupt the launch of the Myer Christmas window display in Melbourne.  The launch has now been called off and Victoria Police says the demonstrations have been reportedly cancelled.

Jacinta Allan said the group who threatened to disrupt the Christmas windows launch would not have been stopped even if the state had tougher protest laws.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry Co-CEO Alex Ryvchin says it is a “disgrace” to see Myer forced to cancel the unveiling of its Christmas window display because of pro-Palestine advocates.

The statement came just hours after Myer cancelled the official unveiling, which had sparked backlash from all levels of government, the local council, and the public.

The official unveiling of Myer's Christmas windows on Bourke Street this Sunday will not go ahead after a protest was organised to disrupt the event.
