Mars rocks have battered the wheels on NASA's Curiosity rover, but the robotic explorer is still driving and thriving despite the damage.

NASA has shared images snapped by cameras mounted on its Mars rover of the holes in the tires caused by the scientific exploration of the Red Planet.

The reason scientists want the rover to explore the rim in the first place is for its potential to be littered with ancient Martian bedrock rubble.
