During his four seasons as Mavericks coach, Jason Kidd occasionally has expressed frustration about his team’s play. Never, though, to the extent that he did after Friday night’s 114-113 loss to Phoenix.

The Mavericks fell behind Kevin Durant and the Suns early and trailed by 10 points after the first quarter. Dallas chipped away at the deficit and even led by six points midway through the fourth, but Phoenix center Jusuf Nurkic was fouled in the final second and nailed one of two free-throw attempts to secure the Suns' win.

The Dallas Mavericks were defeated by the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, losing 114-113. Dallas trailed early but utilized a halftime adjustment to bounce back. It was a back-and-forth second half, but the Suns held strong in the end.
