Organic bagged carrots sold in the U.S. under multiple brands have been linked to an E coli outbreak that's killed one person and sickened 39 others in at least 18 states — with 15 hospitalized, the CDC said Sunday.

The outbreak, detected across 18 U.S. states, is linked to carrots and baby carrots sold by brands such as Wegmans, 365, Trader Joe’s and Nature’s Promise.

The CDC has posted a Food Safety Alert regarding an outbreak linked to organic carrots across multiple states. So far as many as 39 people infected with the outbreak strain of E. coli have been reported from 18 states.
