Sara was forecast to drop 10 to 20 inches of rain, with up to 30 inches in isolated areas in northern Honduras. In a 7 a.m. Eastern update, the hurricane center said "heavy rain, life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides" were possible through the weekend in Central America.

Rainfall from Tropical Storm Sara will likely lead to widespread areas of flash flooding and mudslides for Northern Honduras as it sits off the coast and over the warm waters of the Caribbean over the next few days.

Tropical Storm Sara officially became a named storm after forming in the Caribbean Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said, and while it’s currently forecasted to impact Central America, there’s a possibility it may head toward the already-battered Gulf coast of Florida.
