The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refuted the media reports that claimed the board is set to sack red-ball coach Jason Gillespie, with Aqib Javed taking over as all-format coach. The board confirmed that Gillespie will continue to coach Pakistan on the South Africa tour.

The announcement regarding Gillespie's dismissal may be made as early as Monday, coinciding with Pakistan's final T20I match against Australia.

Gillespie was originally expected to continue at least till the upcoming Champions Trophy, as PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi previously was extremely happy with his appointment and considered him and Kirsten to be ‘best possible coaches’. However, neither of them lasted over a year.
