Austin real estate developer Nate Paul is serving ten days in jail for contempt of court in a long-running civil lawsuit.

A real estate expert is warning that the Austin rental market is "collapsing" just years after the initial boom during the COVID-19 era. During the pandemic, the numbers of Americans moving to the capital city and Texas in general surged as people sought warmer weather and more affordable living in the rise of remote work.

Paul, an associate of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, will serve 10 days in the Travis County Jail starting on Nov. 15.

Nate Paul surrendered himself to the Travis County Sheriff's Office to begin a 10-day jail sentence for criminal contempt of court, after being found guilty of perjury and violating an injunction in a lawsuit against a charity.
