What comes after the iPhone? Meta thinks its Orion glasses might just have what it takes — even if that means burning through billions developing it.

Unlike the upcoming Orion glasses that have smart lenses, the current generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses have ordinary lenses. They have speakers next to each ear, a microphone and a camera that can take still or video pictures. They can see and talk, but they can’t change what you see.

Meta first revealed five years ago that it was developing holographic smart glasses, but the company has actually been working on the project for a decade. These glasses appear far less cumbersome to wear than previous mainstream AR products such as Magic Leap,

Meta's artificial intelligence-powered chatbot spoke to CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a voice familiar to fans of American actress, comedian and rapper Awkwafina in a demo of the enhanced AI tool on Wednesday.

At Meta Connect, CEO Mark Zuckerberg also unveils video translation, auto-dubbing, and lip-syncing tools for Meta AI, as well as new AI photo-editing options.

Meta has secured deals with several actors, including Kristen Bell, John Cena and Judi Dench, to use their voices for the Meta AI chatbot, Reuters reports. Users will be able to talk to the chatbot while listening to answers in the voice of their favorite celebrities.
