The Maui County Fire Department on Wednesday is expected to unveil its long-awaited report on the cause of wildfires that killed 102 people and destroyed much of Lahaina more than a year ago, county officials said.

The Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety (MFD) has received the long-awaited report on the Lahaina wildfires from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

The $4 billion proposed settlement related to the Maui wildfires is now headed to the Hawaii Supreme Court. Now, the Supreme Court will weigh in on how much money more than 100 insurance companies should be entitled to.
