Pittsylvania County tornado rated EF-2
A tornado spawned from the remnants of Hurricane Helene in Pittsylvania County was rated an EF-2, the National Weather Service said Saturday.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Pittsylvania County on Friday evening.

The National Weather Service has rated Friday’s tornado in Pittsylvania County an EF-2, reaching wind speed of 118 mph. Officials say the widest the tornado grew was 225 yards and it cut a 6.85 mile path over roughly 18 minutes.
Tornado causes damage in Pittsylvania County
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office reports numerous reports of damage, including trees and power lines down, as well as structural damage to homes. There are no reports of injuries so far.
