While campaigning for president, Donald Trump said he would impose a 60% tariff on products from China, America’s leading foreign supplier, and other tariffs as high as 20% on all U.S. imports, actions that retailers say will hurt U.S. consumers.

HONG KONG, Nov 6 (Reuters) - A threat by Donald Trump, who has been elected as the next U.S. president, to impose 60% tariffs on U.S. imports of Chinese goods poses major growth risks for the world's second-largest economy.

It is hard to know how much of what candidate Trump said on the campaign trail will turn into actual policies for President Trump. But if his first presidency is any guide, he is certainly not afraid of throwing around big tariffs.
